WORLD CUP THREATENS SCHIFFER'S MARRIAGE

WORLD CUP THREATENS SCHIFFER'S MARRIAGE
CLAUDIA SCHIFFER's marriage to film-maker MATTHEW VAUGHN is being tested during the soccer World Cup - because the pair support different teams.
The German supermodel, who, along with soccer star PELE, carried the trophy into the stadium during the opening ceremony in Munich, Germany, is a huge fan of the sport.
She tells German magazine Gala, "Right after the opening ceremony I put on my German soccer shirt and watched the game with my brothers, my sister and my friends. We were all dressed in soccer shirts and sang soccer songs." But back in her adopted home of London, her enthusiasm could cause problems her husband supports England. She adds, "If Germany plays against England, I'll be sitting on one side of the couch and Matthew on the other. I really hope that the two teams play against each other as late as possible so that it's peaceful at home for longer."

Claudia Schiffer Bio:

Claudia Schiffer (born August 25, 1970 in Rheinberg, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German model who reached supermodel status during the 1990s.
Schiffer began modelling in 1987, after being spotted in a nightclub in Düsseldorf. Weeks later she appeared in Elle magazine. Within a short time she modelled for Chanel. In the early 1990s she starred in Guess? jeans ads in North America. She has appeared in a number of motion pictures.
Schiffer was long engaged to, but never married, the magician David Copperfield. The press later revealed their engagement was contractual. On May 25, 2002 she married film producer Matthew de Vere Drummond, born as Matthew Vaughn, son of George Albert Harley Drummond (also known as George de Vere Drummond).
It was widely reported at the time of Claudia Schiffer's marriage that one day she could become the Countess of Oxford because her father-in-law was in line of succession to the Earldom of Oxford and Mortimer. She is disqualified on two counts: Matthew's illegitimacy would bar him from any succession and George Harley Drummond is not in line for succession as he is not descended from the male line.
Claudia and Matthew have two children: a son, Caspar, born in London on January 30, 2003 and a daughter, Clementine, born in London on November 11, 2004
She has also appeared in the music video of the band Westlife's cover of Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl", as the iconic uptown girl.

McPhee Reveals 5-Year Struggle With Bulimia

McPhee Reveals 5-Year Struggle With Bulimia
Singer Sought Treatment In Between 'Idol' Tapings."American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee finished second to Taylor Hicks, but she still counts herself as a victor in her five-year bout with bulima.McPhee, 22, tells People magazine that she's been struggling to cope with the binge-and-purge eating disorder since she was 17. At her lowest point, she was throwing up seven times a day -- something that could've permanently damaged her vocal cords.

"When I made it onto 'American Idol,' I knew that food -- my eating disorder -- was the one thing really holding me back," she said in the issue that hits newsstands this week.
"I was binging my whole life away for days at a time. … So when I got on the show, I said, 'You know what? I can do well in this competition. Let me give myself a chance and just get a hold of this thing.'"
After successfully auditioning for "Idol" in the fall, McPhee sought help. She credits her parents and her boyfriend, Nick Cokas, for helping her face the problem. In October, she enrolled in the Eating Disorder Center of California in Los Angeles and spent three months undergoing therapy for six days a week.

In December, when she returned to "Idol" for more taping, she told the producers about her eating disorder, but kept it a secret from everyone else.
"She says that around the time that she auditioned, it was at its worst and it was really out of control," People magazine senior editor Galina Espinoza said to ABC News Radio.
"She held off until after the show ended to go public because she didn't want it to influence the voting. She wanted the audience to vote for her because they thought she was a good singer, not because they felt sorry for her or in any way made her seem more sympathetic," Espinoza said.
During the competition, judge Simon Cowell called McPhee's voice, "the best of the competition."
These days, McPhee says she's practicing something called "intuitive eating," which teaches you to eat small amounts of food that you crave, and how to stop eating when you're full.
"I learned that there's no such thing as a bad food," she said in the interview. "If you look at a doughnut, people think it's a fattening food. Why? Because if you eat it, you'll get fat? No, you'll get fat if you eat 10 doughnuts."

Tom Cruise topped the list as the world’s most powerful celebrity which includes rating a stars column inches as well as their fortune.

Gisele Bündchen was born in Três de Maio, near Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She is the daughter of Valdir and Vânia Bündchen, both of German descent, along with five sisters: Raquel, Graziela, Patrícia, Gabriela and Rafaela. Patricia and Gisele are fraternal twins. The pageant will take place at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel on August 13. Orientation for the girls taking part will take place at the Bermuda Industrial Union next Monday, between 5.30 p.m. and 7 p.m."We are delighted to have Oscar James as an international judge this year," Mr Smith said. "The pageant is open to girls aged between 13 and 17, who are either Bermudian, or who have been resident here for at least six months."They have to be doing reasonably well at school and they need good inter-personal skills."In the run-up to the event, the girls will get to meet Premier Alex Scott, Governor Sir John Vereker and Lady Vereker, Opposition Leader Wayne Furbert and Hamilton Mayor Jay Bluck.Entrants will face a series of tests including recitals and answering judges' questions on the spot. Five finalists will be presented to the audience.

"There has been increasing competition between the schools in recent years and the last two years, a Mount St. Agnes student has won overall," Mr. Smith said."So we're looking for good representation from MSA again, as well as schools like Berkeley Institute and Bermuda High School."Anyone wishing to know more about Miss Teen Bermuda Islands can contact Mr. Smith on 337-5552.
